SUMMARY:Collagraph Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Collagraph is an exciting and expressive method of printmaking. The method involves sticking materials on to a piece of mount board (called a plate) or cutting into the plate. Through this method you can create interesting textures and patterns. The plate can be printed as a relief print using a roller or as an intaglio print or a mixture of the two processes. The aim of the day is to explore this printmaking process and produce at least two plates which  can be  printed. This work can be figurative or abstract in nature.

DESCRIPTION:The next session is down as illustrating a poem or a piece of literature.  If you have decided what you are doing with this subject\, great\, come and do it; but following Frances Winders inspiring demonstration last week\, several participants thought that they would like to try her techniques so I’m writing a list of kit you might need. \n  \nStrong watercolour paper\, brushes and cling film.  You could also bring some household salt\, which is fun\, and oil pastels. \nYou can use watercolours\, gouache or acrylic paints but not oils\, and probably a covering for the tables would be good idea too. \n  \nI have books on both of the artists she mentioned\, Kurt Jackson and Anne Blockley\, which I will bring.  If you have a photo you would like to paint\, bring that as well.

SUMMARY:Art at the Abbot Hall Social Centre
DESCRIPTION:There is no set theme for this morning\, but I’ve recently been on a workshop with John Harrison and could give you some pointers on his techniques for pan and wash.  I also have some examples of his work and several I have tried since then. I do not pretend to be as good as he is but its a fun thing to do.  You need good quality rough water colour paper\, a 2B pencil\, a waterproof ink pen and watercolours. (I have Several waterproof pens you can borrow).\n\nDon’t be put off by that\, because if you would like to just come and paint \, do your own thing or just have a friendly social time\, please come along.
