David Sharps

Dave Sharps is a retired art teacher who taught art for over 30 years in secondary education but now has the time and space to develop his own work.  He has his own purpose built studio in his garden in Natland. His work is inspired by the beautiful landscape of Cumbria and the Scottish coast. Through paint, mixed media and printmaking he explores the experience of being on the fells, of walking in the valleys and along the coast. He uses colour and texture to represent the changing and dynamic weather and light conditions. He works mainly from sketches and his own photographs of the landscape. The style of his work ranges from representational to abstract.
