About

Kendal Art Society was established in 1931 and has always aimed to connect and celebrate the artists based in and around this South Lakes town.

Kendal Art Society has more than 50 members, some professional artists but mainly enthusiastic learners and skilled amateurs, using a range of techniques and approaches and inspired by a wide variety of different subject matter.

The Society holds weekly meetings in the Abbot Hall Social Centre on Thursday mornings through the spring, autumn and winter. In the summer, members meet for sketching and painting outdoors. This regular programme is supplemented with occasional full-day workshops and art gallery visits.

All our Events are listed on the website as soon as dates and other details are confirmed.

New members welcome

We are keen to encourage new members so, if you are starting out with your own art, finding yourself with more time for painting, keen to meet other local artists or you are an artist new to the Kendal area, please get in touch and come along to a meeting to find out more.
